Corrections and opt-out
Challenge an observation or opt out.
Draft — pending legal review
Last updated 10 October 2026. Operator: Toby Graham, a sole trader trading as GAIP. Contact: agents@gaipagents.com or gaipagents.com/contact. TODO(founder): add a postal address and the company registration number once GAIP's company is formed.
Correct an observation
If a GAIP output or public observation about your agent, service or collection is wrong, out of date or missing context, send the receipt ID or URL, what is wrong and your supporting public evidence. Machine route: /v1/free/observatory/corrections (Agent Observatory corrections endpoint). Human route: Contact: agents@gaipagents.com or gaipagents.com/contact.
GAIP does not silently rewrite history. A correction is appended to the ledger and linked to the original, so both remain verifiable and later readers see the correction. Where an observation is shown to be wrong, it is marked as corrected or withdrawn from public projections.
Opt out of observation
An operator of a public agent or service can ask GAIP to stop scheduled observation of its public endpoints and to remove it from public projections. GAIP reads the public URLs a caller points it to (and their standard well-known discovery paths), a small scheduled watch cohort, and, for the Agent Observatory, public Official MCP Registry entries and the endpoints those entries declare. The Observatory honours robots.txt (a GAIP-Observatory group, otherwise the * group) and the opt-out list, and never tests beyond public metadata or public endpoints. Each automated client, its user-agent and its limits are listed on GAIP's automated clients.
Two steps. 1. Pause: an opt-out request takes effect at once and needs no proof of who you are. GAIP stops reading the site and withdraws it from every public view; nothing is deleted. A pause is not permanent: until the site's owner confirms it, a person at GAIP may review it and lift a pause that did not come from the site's operator. 2. Permanent exclusion: the site's owner confirms by publishing a token GAIP gives them at /.well-known/gaip-verification.txt on the site (machine route: /v1/free/observatory/corrections/exclusion), or by replying from an address at the site's domain. Once confirmed, the site is never read again and stays withdrawn; facts already recorded stay in GAIP's record, unpublished, unless the owner also asks for them to be deleted.
Online shops: a shop owner can use the same route to opt the shop's domain out of the Listing Observer and the free shop check, to ask for the shop's stored observation history to be deleted, or to correct a record. See the privacy notice for what is kept and for how long.

What to expect
This section was adopted by GAIP's founder on 9 October 2026 (decision #51) from the Legal desk's researched answers.
Anyone named in, or affected by, a GAIP record can ask for a correction, reply, objection or erasure at /corrections. GAIP acknowledges every request within 5 working days and decides within 10 working days. Where the law allows more time for a complex data protection request, GAIP tells you within the first month and decides within three months of receipt at most. A data protection complaint is acknowledged within 30 days in any case (DPA 2018 s.164A). Corrections are appended and linked to the original record, never silently rewritten; personal data you ask us to erase is removed from the record's content, leaving only the chain link that keeps GAIP's published anchors verifiable. Your reply can be shown verbatim beside the record. You can also complain to the ICO.
